WordPress Detector

Check whether any public website is built with WordPress — and see the plugins, ecommerce layer and hosting signals that come with it.

We only analyze publicly accessible website information.

Try:

What we look for

  • /wp-content/ and /wp-includes/ asset paths in the page source
  • The wp-json REST API endpoint reference
  • A generator meta tag that often exposes the WordPress version
  • WordPress cookies such as wordpress_ and wp-settings
  • WooCommerce markup and script versions for WordPress stores

Can you detect WordPress reliably?

In most cases, yes. WordPress serves themes and plugins from predictable asset paths, and those paths appear in the public HTML of nearly every WordPress site. When a site is behind a full-page cache or a headless front end, we report a lower confidence rather than guessing.

Can you see the WordPress version?

Only when it is publicly exposed — usually via the generator meta tag or versioned asset query strings. Many hardened sites remove it, and in that case we show the version as unavailable instead of estimating.
